Syria, before the storm

I’ve started on a second archival project. Scanning and preserving photos I took in the Middle East in the early 2000s. The photos are flawed. I was using a Nikon 8008. Great camera, but even though I knew the basics, I got the settings wrong more often than not.

Umayyad Mosque, Damascus, Syria, early 2000s.

I tend to underexpose or blow out the highlights. But I think I have some decent shots of Syria and the Middle East before the Arab Spring. Let’s hope that region can leave the fighting behind them soon.

Souq al-Hamidiyah, Damascus, Syria, early 2000s.

Note: I think the second image is one of the entrances to the Souq al-Hamidiyah, but it was a long time ago, could easily be wrong. Should learn more when I get into the negatives.
